Fruit Pash

Hi everyone, long time no see.

This post will be some what a mixed bag.
Last weekend we went on a company ski trip to Persiher. I never thought I would be skiing in australia, but I must admit it was quite good. And comparable to the skiing in Sweden appart from the amount of snow. We also had to dress like super heroes. I was one of the Ninja Turtles (im the one on the far left).

Last week my laptop decided to fall appart. Well... not literarly. But the graphics card gave up and the repair cost was abit to close to getting a brand spaking new one. And so I did. I love Apple for their nifty ideas. As my old computer was still running, even though I couldn't see what was going on on the screen, I could still transfer everything on to my new one. So when I was starting it up, everything was installed and ready to go. Perfect!

Last week, me Kat and Ayumi went to supposedly the best japanese noodle restaurant in town. Located in northern part of Sydney called crows nest. The place was very modest looking, but was packed, and there was a cue. The food was excellent. Afterward we decided to walk home and do a stop off at the Opera bar by the opera house to have adrik. There was a Jazz duo playing live on a Fender Rhodes and vocals. They where realy good. When we left walking through the park we saw a lot of possums. Have never seen so many at the same time. They are very cute.

Flash pattern renderer - finally on video

A few months ago I wrote a script in flash that would turn a bitmap image into a pattern.
After playing around with it in photoshop I realized it might look interesting on video.
As a reminder, have a look here: http://thecatsapple.blogspot.com/2009/04/patterns.html

At the time I didn't know how to solve solve of the necessary problems, but through work I managed to pick up a few key things. So today I got to a point where I could test it all.

This is my first test render:

The YouTube one is a bit fuzzy, here is a better quality version to download if you prefer:

All the twists and turns

Whats that feeling of confidence? the one where you just know everything will fall into place eventually. Sometimes you don't dare trust it as you cant see how. But then something unexpected happens.

This time the outcome is that I will be staying in Sydney, Likely for another 2 years.

The end is near

As there has been no posts for a while, I decided to do a bulk one with pictures form the past weeks, or months even. A few things have happended since last time. A few birthdays, and a few less people. Rajdarn, Mikkel, Kamil, Malin and Ayumi have left the island. And Gustav is soon to go too. I sense winter is starting to loose its grip around Sydney even though its mostly quite strong. But the weather has been decent for a little while now, apart from today which reminds me of London. I'm still busy at Deepend and I will be there till the end of the month. Then I'm off on a round trip. Where next is still to be announced.

Any how.. here we go. its not in chronological order

Mug shots from Gustav, Mikkel and Rajdarns house cooling party. Just before they where about to move out.

Yesterday (Sat 11th of July) Me and Kat decided to rent a car and drive for about 1hour and a half to do a bush walk in the blue mountains and have a picnic in the rain forest. It was great!
Here are a few pics for the adventure.

We found an evening cafe doing live Jazz on Glebe point road. Its realy good.

A few weeks ago we where invited to C3 and Aron's to make home made Pasta, it was a great whole day event. And it turned out really well.

Here is the starter which was home made beetroot fettuccine, roast veggies and goats cheese.

For mains we had home made Ravioli with traditional Maltese rabbit, mint and green pea filling.
The powdery stuff is semolina we had to sprinkle over the pasta before cooking.

Loved it

After my birthday dinner we went to have a few drinks at a pub called The Local. I really like it and it has god lots of atmosphere.

Future stumbling over our doorstep

Do you sometime get the feeling that time runs faster and faster as you get older, well all of a sudden the future just seems stumbling over your doorstep sooner than expected (that time seems to flow faster at older age I believe has got something to do that the frame rate of your brain gets slower with age, but that's another theory I can't even state is true. But the metaphor will suits this post pretty well)

The Natal Milo project.
I find it very hard to beleive it is as flexible as Mr. Molyneux states. Click on the image and make your own mind up. No matter if it's as spectacular as it seems technically. Is the concept of this game pushing the future in direction we want?

C3 - The third dimension
C3Technologies have come up with a truly stunning system that automates the conversion of areal photos into 3D space. Just watch the demo. It gets more spectacular towards the end.
